With October being more packed than New York rush-hour traffic when it comes to big game releases, November is a welcome reprieve from the loaded schedule. Don't get too comfortable though, as RoboCop: Rogue City will be robotically plodding onto the scene to dispense some justice, and right now, you can score a great preorder discount on Steam keys at Fanatical.
You can preorder the standard edition of RoboCop: Rogue City for $40 (normally $50) and the more feature-packed Alex Murphy edition is just $48 (normally $60). That version includes several cosmetic extras, a special weapon, and even a digital art book with 100 pages of images and behind-the-scenes notes from developer Teyon. Preorders also unlock early access for the game on October 31.
This isn't the first time that RoboCop has headlined a video game, but it looks like Teyon's work is a love letter to the franchise that captures the vibe of the classic franchise. However, our hands-on session with an early build of Rogue City suggested that Old Detroit's most expensive lawman might be a bit too strong for his adversaries.
"Rogue City sits in a weird place for me. I love the way it looks and sounds, capturing the vibe of the original movies," Jordan Ramée wrote in GameSpot's RoboCop: Rogue City preview. "I'm less impressed with the gameplay, however, notably how immaterial the combat feels where the protagonist is so strong, there's never any enjoyable challenge to it. I do think the RPG-inspired side of the game has some promise, especially if those elements are used to tell a fresh story for the RoboCop mythos."
After a slight delay, RoboCop: Rogue City will officially launch on November 2 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. As mentioned, the Alex Murphy edition offers early access starting October 31.
